Nursery - Home Learning

Here are the key resources for Nursery

Week 5 Nursery Home Learning

Dear Parents/Carers,

I hope you had a great weekend together and found time to recharge your batteries ready for more home learning.

There is a change to the jungle theme this week. This week our Story of the Week is called – There is a Monster in your book.

I read this book to the children when they first came to nursery. I wonder if they remember it?! The activities are linked to this story.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NI5s6Wc0NL8

I am also attaching a power point for a come and pray session that you can share as a family.

On Friday I will add a new video that will help with the phonics *Metal Mike Matching Game. All you need to do is get the pictures ready and I will do the phonics session where you will have to pause the video in places to play the game.

Please do contact me if you need support in printing the resources, so this can be done in school for you to collect.

Kind Regards

Monika Szczygiel

Summer 1 Week 3 Elmer

Dear Parents/Carers,

I hope you have all had a restful weekend and are ready for another week of home learning along with all the usual jobs that still need to be done. I cannot quite believe that the last time we were altogether in nursery was 7 weeks ago! The teachers in nursery are missing the children and families very much!

I am very excited to say that the Story of the Week and any other videos recorded by the nursery teachers will be uploaded on to the school’s new You Tube channel!

This week our Story of the Week is Elmer! Click the link below to watch and subscribe.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kIbPcNgUXv0

I will continue to put things on the blog too.

Each day the children can complete:

  • One maths activity
  • One literacy/phonics activity
  • One activity from the Pick and Mix sheet
  • Daily physical activity and name writing

Some of the activities can be completed with the support of a sheet or power point. This is indicated with a * sign.

As always, I welcome your emails and pictures. You can of course leave messages on the blog by pressing ‘continue reading’.

Please contact me if you have any problems accessing the learning packs or if you have any questions.

Sending you all warm wishes,

Monika Szczygiel

How to make an Elmer instructions

If you don't have all the resources that are in the instruction replace them with a substitute. Googly eyes can be drawn on if you don't have any. If you only have white paper, use colouring crayons to make them colourful.

Happy making!

I hope you have enjoyed your weekend together! The children seem to be getting bigger in the photos you are sending and growing very quickly.

This week Our Book of the Week is Dear Zoo. I will upload a video of myself reading to the children on Monday morning. There are of course versions of this story that can watched on you tube if this is easier for you.

Each day the children can complete:

  • One maths activity

Week 1 activities

Dear Parents/Carers

I hope you have found time to enjoy this sunny Easter holiday with your families! It seems to have gone by very quickly and I hope everyone is ready for some more home learning.

I will be sending weekly home learning packs and posting a video of our Book of the Week on the school blog on Monday morning. Many of the activities will be linked to this story. Our theme for the coming weeks will be Jungle Animals. Our first book is ‘Have you seen the crocodile?’ Please do send me a message if your child has an idea of future good books to use!

I have tried to set work that does not involve needing to print resources or use too much internet access where possible.

Each day the children can complete:

  • One maths activity
  • One literacy/phonics activity
  • Two activities from the Pick and Mix sheet
  • Daily physical activity and name writing

Something important that I have included is a time in the day for being calm and relaxing with ideas how this can possible be done. Hopefully, you will also benefit from the life skills covered in the ‘helping jobs’ section.

I have provided another activity tick sheet of possible activities. These are not compulsory but may give you some ideas of additional challenges to complete to fill your child’s day with fun.

I really enjoy receiving emails with photos or even just a comment to say how you are getting on. I will put these on the blog along with daily messages, so do look on the blog daily.

https://olops.edublogs.org/category/nursery/

I trust that you have all received notification of which school place your child has been offered. Hopefully, most of you have secured your first or second option of school. If you do need to write a letter of appeal please send it to admin@ourladyops.nottingham.sch.uk .  Your letter will be forwarded to the diocese and they will then be in touch. Remember to confirm online that you wish to accept the school place in the time given.

Please get in touch if you have any questions

You are all in my thoughts and prayers, stay safe and well. Missing teaching you all so much!

Kind Regards

Monika Szczygiel
