Class 6 - Miss Braisby

Class 6 - Miss Braisby

Welcome to Year 6

Welcome to Class Six.

This is your child's last year at primary school and I want it to be the best year ever!  Last year was a very strange year indeed and I am delighted that the childeren are back in school and ready to continue with their education.  We have an exciting curriculum planned for your children to help them to meet their full potential.  We will be developing knowledge in all subjects as well as transferable skills which they will need next year at secondary school and throughout their lives.  We aim for them to learn, develop their creativity and reach their full potential in a fun, supportive way. Click here to see our timetable and an overview of our curriculum and a list of the skills we want all the children to acheive.  We ask you to support your child at home by ensuring homework is completed and returned on time, listening to them read and discussing their reading with them and continuing to practise times tables.

Many exciting things will be happening this year, including a residential trip.  The children will be supported through their learning by myself (Miss Braisby), and Mrs Hewes, as well as other people teaching specialised subjects including Mrs Fedyszyn teaching art,  Mr Gordon supporting PE and a French teacher visiting each week.  It is going to be a fun year filled with learning and excitement.

We will be developing vocabulary in our vocab lab sessions where children will be learning new words to help them express themselves and enhance their writing.  We will also be taking part in many fun reading sessions to develop our love of reading.  We will enjoy using the reading area in the classroom as well as the new library.

To ensure every child is working to the expected standard, we have a non-negotiables list of skills which all the children should be working towards. If your child is on the SEND register, you have been given other targets to use instead of these. It would be helpful if you could look at these skills with your child at home. These can be found on the link with the curriculum overview and timetable.
