Class 2 - Mrs Bell and Mrs Fedyszyn

Class 2 - Mrs Bell and Mrs Fedyszyn

Mrs Fedyszyn and Mrs Bell welcome you to Class 2's page. We have a fun and exciting curriculum planned for this year. We enjoy being creative and encourage independence. We love helping the children to learn about the world around us and enjoy off-site visits and welcome visitors, helping the children to gain a deeper understanding through first hand experiences. We have an amazing team of people to help us in Class 2 - Miss Horan, Mrs Uveges and Mrs Simms. Our teaching assistants help, encourage and inspire us to be the very best we can be! Like each and every year, this year is set to be a busy one. Keep checking the school website and our class blog for newsletters and updates on our latest adventures! Mrs Fedyszym puts fantastic effort into keeping our blog up to date - take a moment each week to have a peek! Our Class 2 Curriculum Overview can be found in the Curriculum section of the website. A copy of our most recent newsletter is uploaded below at the start of each term.

Spring - Flying High

Our topic this half term is based on the very first plane flights. We will learn the life stories of Amelia Earhart and the Wright Brothers, discovering how their decisions affected future air travel.  Watch out for our Airport Terminal day when children will enjoy experiencing Check-in, Security and boarding a plane.  Get your bags packed children - it's time to fly!

In the second half of the term, in geography, children will learn about routes and maps, alongside homes and habitats in Science.  Let's hope the weather is fit for us to get outside to enjoy our learning in the school environment.

In Literacy, we will enjoy stories by John Burningham and Anthony Browne. These stories will support us in developing our writing skills so we can innovate and invent stories of our own.  We will also learn about instruction writing and recounting events we have shared together.  Look out for homework on contractions and suffixes.  Children can sometimes find these areas tricky to grasp.

In RE this half term, we will explore the topics Books, Thanksgiving and Opportunities. Books will help the children gain an understanding of the Bible (Old Testament and New Testament); during the Thanksgiving topic, the children will gain a deeper understanding of the Eucharist and when exploring the Opportunities unit, children will learn about how we are encouraged to make good choices and make the most of the opportunities God offers us each day.
