Class 1 - Mrs. Flynn

Welcome to our class page. We use a creative approach to the curriculum that provides children with a unique and exciting opportunity to become independent learners. We love to learn through play and adventure; we learn to love one another by embracing our differences. If you would like to take a look at what we have been learning, please visit our class blog. You can also check this year's planned activities and the homework that has been set by looking at the resource page. Don't forget to keep an eye out each week to see who has been given a special mention! The latest newsletter can be downloaded here below.

Lent 2  - New Life - What can we find in God's Garden?

Welcome back, I hope you are ready to "spring" back into action ready for another busy and fun-filled half term. The day light is beginning to last a little longer allowing us to appreciate the natural beauty of the world.

In Literacy the children will create their own explanation texts looking at the life cycles of spring animals. In our narrative unit we will explore stories with familiar settings joining Percy the Park Keeper as he follows the Secret Path.

This half term in numeracy we will be very busy playing with number!  Our learning will inlcude; confidence in addition and subtraction methods, data handling, 3d shape properties and measurement – temperature & capacity ml/l.

In science we will be looking out for the signs of spring by identifying and naming a variety of wild and garden plants and trees. Then nurture our own plants and observe how they grow.

In RE we will discover how the Church prepares for the Eucharist in gathering together to celebrate God’s love in our lives. We will recognise Lent as a time of change whilst we prepare ourselves for the celebration of Palm Sunday and Good Friday.

In Geogrpahy the children will be concentrating on field working including maps. They will use maps to pinpoint the countries and capital cities within the UK. Then use co-ordinates to create their own maps.

Mrs Fedyszyn will be in class 1 on Thursday mornings to work with the children to develop their art skills.

Please ensure you spend time reading with your child frequently and support them to practise their spellings that will be tested every Friday.

Keep your eyes out for the children listed below to see who will be recieving a special mention in our Friday assembly.
