Class 1 - Miss Gethings

Welcome to our class page. We use a creative approach to the curriculum that provides children with a unique and exciting opportunity to become independent learners. We love to learn through play and adventure; we learn to love one another by embracing our differences. If you would like to take a look at what we have been learning, please visit our class blog. You can also check this year's planned activities and the homework that has been set by looking at the resource page. Don't forget to keep an eye out each week to see who has been given a special mention! The latest newsletter can be downloaded here below.

Pentecost  - Space - What is beyond our blue sky?

Welcome back, I hope you are ready to "blast off" as we prepare for another busy and fun-filled half term.

The children will be celebrating the 50th anniversary of the moon landing. We will learn all about the significance of this exploration into space.

Our Literacy will focus on writing instructions on how to make a look after an alien. By the end of term we will write our own moon poetry.

In Mathematics we will be developing our multiplication and division skills, investigating fractions and looking at position and direction.

In Science will be performing investigations on everyday materials. We will uncover their properties and find out how they can be changed, particularly freeze dried space food.

In RE we will celebrate the feast of Pentecost and the gift of the Holy Spirit. We will focus on the importance of coming together to share such holy days and holidays with our families and our church community.

Mrs Fedyszyn will be in class 1 on Thursday mornings to work with the children to develop their art skills.

Please note the following dates for a number of planned trips;

Friday 14th June - Tennis Centre

Thursday 27th June - Conkers

Friday 12th July - Ogden Olympics at Trinity School
